Every 26 November brings a new edition of World Sustainable Transport Day, inviting cities, institutions and citizens to reflect on a global challenge: how to get around efficiently without compromising the health of the planet. This day is intended to generate awareness and to drive specific actions that favour a model change. In a context of climate emergency and the accelerated transformation of transport systems, the day takes on special significance as it emphasises real and immediate solutions that are now being rolled out all around the country.
Traditional mobility based on fossil fuels does not meet today's needs. Congestion, air pollution and high energy consumption are factors that require solid, sustainable alternatives. World Sustainable Transport Day focuses precisely on this: options that help reduce these types of impact while improving urban quality of life.
Transition towards clean and efficient mobility
In the last few years, cities around the world have spearheaded strategies to speed up the transition to cleaner ways of moving around. This transformation includes three main areas: decarbonising private transport, strengthening public transport and promoting active commutes.
The electrification of cars is one of the cornerstones of this transition. Individual and shared electric cars are already part of the urban landscape and are essential for reducing emissions immediately. At the same time, walking, cycling and using street-calmed infrastructures strengthen the model of a healthier and more balanced city.
Barcelona as a role model for sustainable mobility
Barcelona has been working for years to move towards a mobility system aligned with Europe’s climate goals. The city has promoted measures that combine technology, efficiency and sustainability: larger low-emission zones, improved public transport, promotion of shared fleets and development of a public recharging infrastructure that is a leader in Spain.
The Endolla Barcelona recharging network has become a crucial service in this process. Having accessible recharging points evenly distributed around the city means electric mobility cab stop being an aspiration and turn into an everyday reality, making it a key factor in ensuring that the transition moves forward safely and continuously.
Endolla Barcelona: facilitating the transition towards e-mobility
In this scenario of transformation, our mission is clear: to help everybody who chooses an electric vehicle to have an accessible, reliable and local network. Available in public streets and BSM car parks, Endolla is firmly established as the practical everyday infrastructure that makes cleaner mobility in the city possible.
Our contribution goes beyond guaranteeing recharging points: we want to make electromobility evolve at the pace that Barcelona needs. That’s why are focused on ongoing improvement by adding new types of points and adapting the network to users’ real needs. Recent measures that stand out include:
- The installation of 160 kW recharging stations.
- The creation of mixed stations for cars and motorcycles.
- Increased power at various recharging points in BSM car parks.
These advances demonstrate a firm commitment: to maintain a modern infrastructure that supports the energy transition and facilitates a real and sustainable change in habits.
For this World Sustainable Transport Day, we at Endolla Barcelona remember that tomorrow’s mobility is being built today and that every recharge is another step towards a more sustainable city.
For a cleaner Barcelona with more positive energy. Happy World Sustainable Transport Day.
