This day is intended to generate awareness and to drive specific actions that favour a model change. In a context of climate emergency and the accelerated transformation of transport systems, the day takes on special significance as it emphasises real and immediate solutions that are now being rolled out all around the country.
Traditional mobility based on fossil fuels does not meet today's needs. Congestion, air pollution and high energy consumption are factors that require solid, sustainable alternatives. World Sustainable Transport Day focuses precisely on this: options that help reduce these types of impact while improving urban quality of life.
Transition towards clean and efficient mobility
In the last few years, cities around the world have spearheaded strategies to speed up the transition to cleaner ways of moving around. This transformation includes three main areas: decarbonising private transport, strengthening public transport and promoting active commutes.
