The Spanish government has approved the new Auto+ Plan, an incentive programme that replaces the MOVES III Plan and offers grants of up to 4,500 euros for the purchase of plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles. The measures aim to accelerate the renewal of the vehicle fleet, foster the decarbonisation of transport and help more people buy low-emissions vehicles. The grants will also be retroactive for all purchases made since 1 January 2026.
What are the eligibility conditions for the grants?
To be eligible for a grant, vehicles must have the corresponding environmental certification and not exceed the programme’s price limits. The maximum price is 45,000 euros for cars and 10,000 euros for motorcycles. Other categories include vans, light lorries and quadricycles. Used vehicles are eligible for the grant as long as they were registered on or after 1 January 2025.
The grants will be awarded according to EEE (electric, economical and European) criteria, which prioritise models based on their electrification level, affordability and whether they were manufactured in the European Union. This means that grant percentages will be higher for 100% electric vehicles than for plug-in hybrids.
