Every year, World Environment Day (WED) is held on 5 June. It is promoted by the United Nations in order to foster awareness and action around the world for the protection of our environment. It was first held in 1973 and it has become a flagship campaign for awareness-raising in regard to new environmental issues: sea pollution and global warming, sustainable consumption and crimes against nature.
It focuses on a new issue every year, which large corporations, NGOs, communities and governments all over the world then adopt, in order to promote environmental causes.
This year, 2024, with Saudi Arabia as the host country, World Environment Day is highlighting the importance of land restoration, stopping desertification and improving resilience against drought, under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration”.
Protecting the environment in big cities
On this day, it is important to encourage all city residents to reflect on present and future commitments, in order to ensure the well-being of society, become more aware and propose solutions for stopping climate change, which could have devastating consequences for the planet.
Using fuel vehicles is one of the factors responsible for greenhouse gas emissions, as they emit large quantities of CO₂ and contribute to global warming. This phenomenon has disrupted traditional weather patterns and has led to longer periods of drought.
Using green transport to get around, promoting the use of e-vehicles and introducing greener city models are measures that are becoming increasingly necessary in order to improve air quality and reduce the pollution caused by transport in big cities.
Promoting a more sustainable society
Sustainability is the balance between the resources that society currently consumes and those that will remain for future generations. Every decision we take may have a significant impact on our environment, from reducing the consumption of plastic to promoting sustainable mobility: every action is important.
Promoting a more sustainable society guarantees comfort for the population, protection of the planet's resources and responsible consumption of energy. This is the way to ensure that future generations can enjoy a healthy, prosperous planet.
Backing urban eco-mobility
At Endolla, we wish to reaffirm our commitment to a greener future and help to reduce CO₂ emissions, by promoting the use of e-vehicles. Every time that you use an Endolla network, you are actively helping to preserve the environment and combat climate change.
Choose an electric vehicle and be part of the change, adopting more sustainable techniques.
