European Mobility Week 2024

From September 16 to 22, 2024, the European Mobility Week was celebrated in Catalonia, which promotes more sustainable, safe and healthy mobility habits such as walking, cycling, public transport or electric vehicles. Possible changes in the use of public space, the improvement of air quality and the reduction of pollution are also visualized.
This year's European Mobility Week has the motto "Combine and move!" which emphasizes intermodality and encourages us to move sustainably for the benefit of our health and the environment.

Barcelona with the environment

Barcelona is once again taking part in European Mobility Week with a programme of activities organised by the City Council, in collaboration with various organisations and associations. The goal is to improve air quality, recuperate public space and promote safe mobility in the city.
With the adherence to the Week, we want to:

  • Make people aware of the benefits of a friendly city positively impacted by traffic calming initiatives, and of the other uses to which spaces that are usually the domain of private motor vehicles can be put.
  • Raise awareness about the need to reduce the use of private motor vehicles in order to reduce levels of pollution in the city.
  • Promote the most sustainable means of getting about (on foot, by bike, electric vehicles and using public transport).

Join sustainable mobility

If you want to be a part of sustainable mobility, here are some alternative ways to get around the city while taking care of the environment:

  • Go on foot: Walk, stroll, run... As simple as they may seem, these actions have huge physical and mental health benefits. Using your feet is the cheapest, least polluting and often the most efficient way to get around.
  • Hop on a bicycle: It’s one of the best modes of transport both for your health and the environment. Using a bicycle for your daily commute saves time and money, and allows you to get around at your own pace, without stress or exposure to roadside emissions. Remember that the Bicing service is available to make travelling by bicycle easier and more practical.
  • Personal mobility vehicles: New technologies have brought with them urban mobility solutions that make it easier to get around the city. Sustainable, practical vehicles that give us the autonomy to go wherever we want, whenever we want. Electric scooters, unicycles, and cycles with more than two wheels are an increasingly common sight on the streets of Barcelona.
  • Take public transport: Public transport is a sustainable alternative, as it generates fewer emissions of polluting gases. It is safe and affordable, and you can use the time to do something else. Barcelona offers several public transport alternatives so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs.
  • Drive an electric vehicle: Whenever you have to use a private vehicle, electric mobility is the best way to keep taking care of the planet. Drive it efficiently to optimise its energy use, and carpool whenever possible to reduce traffic jams and congestion.

The importance of sustainable mobility

Whenever you walk, use a bicycle, ride public transport or drive an electric vehicle, you are helping to make the air cleaner and healthier, for yourself and for everyone.
Here at Endolla Barcelona we continue to work to achieve a healthier and ecological city by promoting sustainable transport to support environment, the people and the city of Barcelona.
Remember, how you get around has an impact on everyone’s health!
