CO₂ emissions are one of the main causes of global warming. Motor vehicles account of a quarter of all atmospheric CO₂ emissions.
Endolla Barcelona promotes the decarbonisation of mobility, and the sustainability of the planet, by making it easier for people to use electric vehicles, and working to cut CO₂ emissions.
The following data provides a better understanding of the positive impact on the environment of the reduction in CO₂ (expressed in tonnes) thanks to the use of electric vehicles instead of those reliant on the combustion engine.

Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per kilometre

So far, in 2022, our network of recharging points has provided enough energy for our users’ cars and motorbikes to cover a distance of 36,317,560 kilometres. Covering that same distance in ICE vehicles would have generated 7,431 tonnes of CO₂. Together we’ve saved all these tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by using electric vehicles.

What does 7,400 tonnes of CO₂ equate to?

Here are some examples to give you a clearer understanding of what’s needed to generate this figure:

•    Is equal to the emissions generated by 1,286 inhabitants in Europe over the course of a whole year
•    250 flights between Barcelona and Madrid
•    The amount of CO₂ sequestered by an area of Mediterranean forest the size of 1,114 blocks in the Eixample district
•    The amount of CO₂ sequestered by an area of Mediterranean forest 36 times the size of the Parc de la Ciutadella

These examples give you an idea of how important the use of electric vehicles is in cutting CO2 emissions, helping reduce the environmental impact  to improve people’s daily lives.

Benefits of driving electric vehicles

Driving electric vehicles doesn’t only improve air quality - remember that there are other benefits too:

•    Less noise pollution

As they don’t use combustion engines, electric vehicles make much less noise, improving our quality of life and reducing stress generated by noise.

•    Less maintenance and no polluting coolants

Electric cars have fewer components and moving parts than combustion-engine vehicles, meaning they require less maintenance, and have no need for engine oils or coolants that are harmful to the environment.

•    Greater energy efficiency

In terms of energy, electric vehicles are more efficient than internal combustion engines. Electric vehicles are far more energy efficient (around 75% efficient) than ICE vehicles (27%).

•    Subsidies and advantages in circulation

As these vehicles carry the DGT's "0" label, they are eligible for purchase and registration subsidies. Furthermore, they can use VAO lanes without needing to comply with minimum occupancy regulations.

Here at Endolla Barcelona we continue to work to achieve a healthier and more ecological city by promoting sustainable transport to support environment, the people and the city of Barcelona.
