To continue promoting sustainable transport and the adoption of electric vehicles, we are reminding you of the subsidies you can benefit from by purchasing a non-polluting vehicle and helping in the process to decarbonise mobility.
The Spanish government announced an increase in funding for sustainable mobility. The budget for the MOVES III plan reached 1.2 billion euros, following a boost of 400 million euros, and is in place until 31 December 2023.
The MOVES III plan in Catalonia
The MOVES III plan seeks to incentivise the increased use of vehicles powered through cleaner and more efficient technologies.
Those able to benefit from the MOVES III plan include individuals, the self-employed, private companies, city and provincial councils, autonomous administrations and other Spanish public organisations.
The subsidies are for PHEV vehicles (plug-in hybrids) with a range of more than thirty kilometres, EREV vehicles (extended range electric vehicles), EV vehicles (100% electric) and fuel cell vehicles.
What subsidies does the programme offer for electric vehicles?
For individuals, the self-employed, owner-tenant communities and organisations with no economic activity, subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles range from 1,100 to 9,000 euros, according to the different cases allowed for and based on the type of vehicles and their characteristics. Subsidies are also higher where a vehicle is exchanged to be scrapped.
• Subsidy for purchasing electric cars
For plug-in hybrids (PHEV), extended range electric vehicles (REEV or E-REV) and 100% electric vehicles (BEV) the subsidy varies according to the vehicle’s range. The amount may be up to 7,000 euros where there is a car to be scrapped.
• Subsidy for purchasing electric vans
Subsidies are the same for plug-in hybrids (PHEV), extended range electric vehicles (REEV or E-REV) and 100% electric vans (BEV), providing they have a range of thirty kilometres or more. Subsidy of 7,000 euros, or 9,000 with a vehicle to scrap.
• Subsidy for purchasing electric motorcycles
Depending on the type of motorcycle, subsidies can reach 2,000 euros with a vehicle to scrap.
MOVES Flotes: subsidy for electric vehicles for companies
Those able to benefit from these subsidies are private companies and institutional public sector companies. Subsidies in this sphere range from 700 euros for a large company to purchase a motorcycle, to 5,000 euros for an SME to purchase a van.
The application period for the subsidies in the second call for MOVES Flotes ends on 8/3/2023.
