Electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid?

Check the top three differences between the most sustainable car models you can find on the streets these days.

Motor

Electric cars are powered exclusively by electric motors and need to be recharged at recharging stations. On the other hand, hybrid cars are equipped with an internal combustion engine that combines with electric propellers and are recharged using the energy generated in braking and retention. Like hybrids, plug-in hybrid cars have a combustion engine and electric propellants, but its battery capacity is bigger and can be recharged in electric points.

Batteries and autonomy

The autonomy of electric cars depends on its battery. The latest ones on the market can reach up to 450 km of autonomy and its battery capacity can be 100 kWh. Batteries of hybrid models are smaller with a capacity of 2 kWh that is recharged by the combustion engine and its autonomy in electric mode driving can be from 2 to 5 km. On the other hand, plug-in hybrids have bigger batteries, about 9 kWh that can be recharged by combustion engine and at electric recharging points. The vehicle autonomy in electric mode can reach 50-60 km.

DGT Label and Moves Plan II

100% electric cars are quiet and easy to drive. These type of cars also benefit from DGT label 0 and drivers can get up to 6,500 € for these cars with the Plan Moves II. Hybrid models are the cheapest and in city, drivers can take advantage of its electric driving mode so its energy consume is lower. This model has the ECO label of the DGT and as they are considered eco vehicles, drivers can obtain up to a maximum of 1000 € with the Plan Moves II. Finally, with plug-in hybrid cars, label 0 of the DGT with more than 40 km of autonomy, you can take advantage of its electrical autonomy in the city without having to consume fuel and drivers can get from the Plan Moves II 3600 €.
